Titchfield private number plate fraudster to pay £300000
The sleepy village of Titchfield, located in Southern Hampshire, recently underwent quite a scandal. During April of 2011, Peter Swatton was arrested for fraud. His crime was promising his customers their sought-after customized number plates, and then scamming them out of an exorbitant amount of money – between 2,000 and 7,000 euros. Swatton commited the crimes via an online retail store called Cherish Marks. Here, he would promote the products and then simply never deliver, pocketing the money for himself instead. Upon his arrest, the authorities confiscated over 300,000 euros, 18% of which will be distributed to the 17 individual victims.
