Private Number Plates 1P
It has recently been announced that a wealthy Scotish business man has put up for sale private number plate 1 P. The price not surprisingly is significantly more than the registration number suggests. These very cherished number plates have been a prized possession of it’s current owner for the last 10 years.
The anonymous owner who is moving abroad is asking half a million pounds for his private number plate which until recently has taken pride of place on his Mercedez Benz. yesterday he said “1P would be ideal for someone in finance with a sense of humour – but I can’t see the Chancellor of the Exchequer buying it.”
The canny Scot is certain to do well as the price of private number plates continues to gather pace. 1 P originally sold at a DVLA Auction for a hammer price of £51,500 in December 1996. On top of the hammer price would have been VAT, auctioneers premium of 7.5 % + VAT and £80 department of transport fee. In more recent years single letter number one combinations have achieved serious sums of money like F1 sold by Essex County Council in 2008 £440,000 was paid by a Bradford business for these private number plates.
